that the page that she held had the word “love” underlined
this is a girl who died inside her mind
where the gulls go to nest
and the wolves they love to dine

one by one it takes it’s toll,
it find itself when two halves become whole
I’m alone and I’m afraid
one by one the days slip by,
and one by one the lights will seep inside
and the dark will fade to light
burn it all away…

these days I’m coming down with something
and the way that you sway has got me wishing that I’d said nothing
one black eye and a heart that was covered in frost
and a trip to the coast that made me realize what I’d lost
