(originally a poem by nick johnston, recorded for caleb tjelle's senior project in the spring of 2013. demo's done at canyon hills community church by carson heffner, beats made in the yearous household, additional production by justus yearous and caleb tjelle)
my love is a building
I'm building around you
made of four walls of concrete
and windows of glass and clay
my fear is a tower that pierces the skyline
made of bronze and wax-paper,
it's gilded and painted black
my restlessness is blinking
pulling cars on the freeway
it's calling me softly
away from the one I love
my loneliness is scraping
the sky that surrounds you
I can't but help but wonder
if my building is crashing down
